A husband-and-wife team passionate about giving furniture a second chance: since 2017, we’ve been sanding, staining, and painting pieces that deserve to be loved again.
This business started during one of the hardest seasons of our lives. In 2014, our youngest son, Dawson, was diagnosed with B-cell leukemia. During his years of chemo and recovery, we needed an outlet, something positive to pour our energy into. That’s when refinishing furniture became more than a hobby.

Since 2017, The Crooked Notch has been run by a husband-and-wife team with the help of our two boys. What started as a small idea has grown into a full furniture warehouse, fueled by love for the craft and support from our community.

Our journey began during our son Dawson’s battle with leukemia. Refinishing furniture became a way to heal, create, and bring hope into our home. Today, it continues to be a reminder that beauty can rise from hard seasons.

Dawson’s Story
Dawson is the reason The Crooked Notch exists. Many of our customers know him from flea markets or helping out in the shop. Today, he’s healthy, happy, and enjoying life as a teenager, and we’re grateful every day. His older brother, Mason, is just as much a part of our business, offering help (and sometimes surprises) when we need it most.
